My Great Uncle, Pte C S Allen. DCM, served in A Btn, Tanks, at The Somme, Messines, 3rd Ypres & Cambrai. He was awarded his DCM for actions with Capt C Robertson at Ypres, who was awarded the first VC, post, for the Tank Corps. Six weeks later Pte Allen was KIA at Cambrai assisting an injured officer from the tank when hit by a shell, he was a gunner in A55, Aggressive II, Se 2878. Cpl A J Squire & Pte E Scholey were also killed.
My Gt Grandmother received a letter, which I have, from a Gunner H W Hensman informing of her son`s death, any details of the crew of this tank would be greatly appreciated. John A
