Walter Stones and his crew 1916
This photo, which was taken in July 1916 near Thetford, is found in the Oxford University collection The officer is Lt Walter Stones and the man in the rear rank (right hand) is William Foster. I think the rest of the crew are: Sgt Meyrick - on the right at the front Gnr Coffey- possibly 206098 Pte Robert Steele Coffey Gnr Hardy Gnr Reeve - possibly 32101 Leslie Reeve born and resided Birmingham; DoW on 24 Apr 17 whilst serving with D Bn 38044 Gnr Frederick Joseph Rule born Summer 1890 at Ford in Glendale Northumberland Gnr Wells possibly 40015 Pte John Thomas Wells ? born Harpurhey near Manchester, Lancs in 1892, enlisted Coventry and later served as Pte in 4th Tank Corps ? died whilst serving with D Bn aged 25 on 22 March 1918 Grateful if any Web Pals could help me by confirming who is who (if any)
